ある奇跡的な体験を通して神の恵みに目覚めたJohn Newton（イギリス人）による詞は、スコットランドやアイルランドなどからアメリカに渡った人達によって、いつの間にか歌い出されたと云われています。編曲するにあたり、ある賛美歌－私の罪を担い、苦しみ歩んで下さる主に全てを任せっきりで、自分は何もしないで生きていて良いのか？－を第二の旋律として、アメイジング・グレイスに寄り添う形としました。
This hymn words were written by John Newton, an English man whose amazing experience led him to his conversion, the words were set to the local melody sung by the settlers in the US from British Isles. This arrangement has another hymn melody interwoven, “Must Jesus Bear the Cross Alone, and all the world go free? No, there’s a cross for everyone, a cross for me.”
