この曲は、癌との闘病の末に亡くなった、あるハンドベルリンガーに捧げられています。最期まで、感謝の想いと美しい笑顔に満たされていたその人の自然な美しさは、周囲の人の心を打ちました。その信仰と前向きな生き方が、死をも克服したのだ、と心打たれた作曲者は、死を悼むよりは、むしろその人生を、祝福されたものとして表現することで、音楽を力強い豊かなものにしています。
慰めに満ちた演奏であってほしいと願いつつ—–。
This piece is dedicated to a handbell ringer who had passed away after a fierce struggle against cancer. To the last, she never forgot her beautiful smile and to be grateful, which deeply impressed the composer. He thought her faith and positive attitude finally made her triumph the death and composed this piece to bless her life rather than mourn her death. The music is reassuring and rich.
